I had used a computer since I was a kindergartner in the late 1990s, and I am also old enough to remember dial-up internet. However, before I was a teenager, I never considered the possibility of me creating anything on the web, let alone crafting my own space on the web, because at the time I only used the internet to browse the web.
That changed radically in 2006, when I was in my early teen and introduced to the concept of blogs and blogging by "Xuehai Weekly," a Malaysian-Chinese magazine aimed at secondary school students.
Author Note
Permalink to section 'Author Note'"Webweaving and Blogging Can Change Your Life" was my submission to the Spring 2025 issue, the very first issue of Good Internet, a magazine about the web founded and curated by Alexandra of the museum of alexandra.
Good Internet is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit print and digital biannual magazine for personal website owners and those interested in using the internet as a means of self-expression, art, and recreation.
One tiny mistake I made in my submission that I realised only after my article was published was in the paragraph "An expected influence blogs had on my teenage self...", where I meant "An unexpected influence".
Nevertheless, it was a great honour to have contributed to Good Internet, and to share my story about the web and how the web changed my life.
Give Good Internet a read, and subscribe to support the magazine and Alexandra's effort in curating the best the web has to offer!
